Hey there. I'm Nick.

I am a game developer and technical artist based in Adelaide, Australia, and techarthub is my website.
Thank you so much for visiting. I hope you’ve found what you’re looking for.

I have been in the games industry for over fourtreen years, and in that time I’ve worked as a producer, 3D animation instructor, game designer, environment artist, and realtime vfx artist, purely because I fell in love the whole game development process and despite my best efforts, I just couldn’t pick a specialty.

As luck would have it, it turns out there’s a place for people like me and its called technical art.

I’m so happy to be here. It’s been a journey.

My work

I have been fortunate to work on a broad range of different projects. From educational mobile apps and physical interactive installations, to games for entertainment and experimental VR experiences, I’ve had the opportunity to explore a lot of what modern game development has to offer. Despite these experiences, it still feels like I’m only just scratching the surface of what’s out there. There is so much more to discover!

As the leader of the Starry Expanse Project, I am responsible for managing a medium-sized international team of talented programmers and artists. It has made me intimately familiar with (almost) every aspect of the interactive development pipeline, whether I wanted to or not. It’s been a trial by fire, and it’s changed my life.

It’s a bit of a time capsule from 2021, but you can find more examples of my personal work in my portfolio.

Why techarthub?

My experience teaching 3D modelling and character animation at secondary/tertiary level was immensely rewarding, but I am a nervous public speaker and found it super intimidating.

I don’t think I could survive being a fulltime classroom teacher, but I loved sharing what I’d learned, and bouncing ideas around with those who felt similarly.

This website is my personal compromise. It gives me the opportunity to share my passion for game development with you, and meaningfully contribute to this industry I love so much, while at the same time keeping my anxiety level at a workable minimum.

So far, so good.
